Pay me more, as Lionel Messi rejects Barcelona’s contract extension offer

Lionel Messi has rejected a new £30m-a-year contract extension offer from his club, Barcelona.

The Argentinean forward’s current deal of £362,000 per week expires in June 2018.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the five-time FIFA Ballon d’Or award winner is requesting for a more lucrative offer.

It leaves the club scratching their heads in order to complete the last bit of contract renewals for the fearsome MSN, with Luis Suarez and Neymar recently signing bumper extension deals with the club.

Messi scored his first senior goal for Barca against Albacete in May 2005 and has now surpassed 500 goals for the club in all competitions.

With Barcelona, he has won eight La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles, among other trophies.
