APC postpones Lagos governorship primary election, to hold on Thursday 4 October

The Lagos governorship primary election for APC Gubernatorial aspirants which was meant to hold today, has been postponed for the third time.

APC Publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena in a statement confirming the postponement, disclosed that the Lagos Governorship Primaries will now take place on Tuesday, October 2nd while the Enugu and Adamawa governorship Primaries will take place on Thursday 4 October.

While no reason was given for postponing the Lagos Governorship primaries initially scheduled for today, however it should be noted that the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is locked in a battle with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

However the reason given for the postponement few days ago, was because people have to go to church on Sunday. The All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesperson in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe told Premium Times;

“People have to be in church on Sunday, so we have rescheduled until Monday unfailingly.
“There are other issues around logistics, but everything would be done by Monday.”
Sanwo-Olu reportedly received the endorsement of 36 out of the state’s 40 lawmakers on Sunday afternoon, while another governorship aspirant and challenger, Babatunde Hamzat, stepped down for him. He has also been endorsed by APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu.
