I plan to quit France after Euro 2020 - Matuidi
France midfielder Blaise Matuidi says he is going to retire from international football at the end of Euro 2020.

Matuidi, 31, played a key role in France’s World Cup triumph in Russia and had been rumoured to be considering leaving the national side on a high.

But Matuidi has remained with Les Bleus and played the full 90 minutes of their recent 2-1 win over Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

The Juventus star instead plans to retire in style by winning Euro 2020.

“I asked myself the question of retiring now, after a great victory like the World Cup,” Matuidi told RMC Sport.

“However, I’m ambitious and I’m sure that with this group, we can win the European Championship.

“I want to go out in style, but in no more than two years.”

Since debuting in November 2010, Matuidi has managed nine goals and assists in 75 appearances for France.
