Maisie Williams says being cast in Game Of Thrones took away her adolescent life

Actress Maisie Williams has admitted she doesn't know what the future holds for her and her peers because she gave up her teenage life to star as Arya Stark in the hit TV series, Game Of Thrones.

The 21-year-old who finished filming her last scenes in the eighth, and final, season of the HBO series, in July, has been with the franchise for eight to nine years.

In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, she said she's still 'petrified' of her peers because she 'gave up being a normal teenager' for the role and left school to be taught at home after being cast in the hit series at the age of just 12.

'I gave up a huge part of my adolescent life. I'm still petrified of my peers, because I just didn't spend a lot of time with them,' she said.

And of her final scenes she admitted: 'I got to the end and I didn't want more. I had exhausted every possible piece of Arya.

'And this season was quite big for me. I had a lot more to do. Mainly because there's just less characters now, so everyone's got more to do.'

The star added that her final scene was 'beautiful' but said that her character was alone because 'Arya's always bloody alone', though she remained tight-lipped on what is set to come in the hit series.

In August, said on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show that she 'cried a lot' as she filmed the final scenes.

Speaking about the end of the show, which will air its final season in 2019 she said: 'It's emotional but exciting too, because you've got loads of other bits going on.'

The seventh season saw Arya come into her own as an assassin, as she got revenge on Lord Walder Frey and his entire family for having her brother Robb and mother Catelyn killed at the Red Wedding.

But that wasn't all, as in the intense season finale she also finally exacted her wrath on Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish for his crimes against House Stark, and the hand he played in the death of her father Ned (Sean Bean).
